The 19 th of April Sweden hosted the first Apprenticeship day as part of the project VET-EAR that has
the purpose of creating possibilities for paid apprenticeships abroad. The day was hosted by two of
the partners in the VET-EAR project, Uddevalla Vuxenutbildning and The West Sweden Chamber of
commerce which organizes 3,000 companies in West Sweden. The day was organized as a open
house with activities throughout the day.
The day gathered companies, VET-Students and organisations specialized in VET. There Was also a
possibility for the students to try out some of the professions that was made possible through VET at
Uddevalla Vuxenutbildning. For example attendees were given the opportunity to climb inside of a
truck from the transportation program.
Approximately 250 attendants visited the event and the perception was very good with high
engagement. During the day the attendants was given the possibility to listen to sessions by the
Swedish public employment agency, the West Sweden chamber of commerce and Westum an
organization specialized in apprenticeships abroad.
The day can hopefully inspire to future events, stating the importance of VET in general and
especially the possibilities that comes with the opportunity of studying and working abroad as a paid
apprentice.
